(07.08.2020) Hofstra among latest changes to Duquesne's 2020-2021 schedule

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Duquesne is still working on piecing together their non-conference schedule for next season, and another addition and two subtractions were made on Tuesday.

According to Mike Vukovcan of Pittsburgh Sports Now, Duquesne has added the Hofstra Pride to their schedule, while removing matchups against the Furman Paladins and Marshall Thundering Herd.

Hofstra, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2019-2020 after a 26-8 season and a conference tournament victory over Northeastern. Had the NCAA Tournament been played, it would have been Hofstra's first appearance since 2001, when they were led by current Villanova head coach Jay Wright.

Duquesne was expected to play Furman in a neutral-site contest. However, due to travel concerns, the Paladins decided to back out of the game.

As for Marshall, the Dukes were expected to travel to Huntington, West Virginia, home of current guard Tavian-Dunn Martin, to play the return game of a series with the Thundering Herd. Duquesne defeated Marshall, 93-82, at the A.J. Palumbo Center in December of 2018, while the Thundering Herd clobbered the Dukes, 83-61, at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland this past December.

Duquesne is now expected to travel to Marshall during the 2021-2022 season after the schools could not agree on a date for this year's contest.

In 2020-2021, Duquesne is scheduled to participate in the Maryland Showcase, where they will host the California Baptist Lancers (11/16) and San Jose State Spartans (11/18) before traveling to College Park for a meeting with the Maryland Terrapins (11/22). The Dukes will also travel to Laramie, Wyoming for a date with the Wyoming Cowboys (12/5) as part of the Mountain West/Atlantic 10 Challenge.

Duquesne will also host Belmont, Loyola(Maryland), Rider, Towson and Winthrop on currently unknown dates.
