(06.07.2020) Duquesne to host Loyola(MD) as part of 2020-2021 schedule

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Eventually, Duquesne is going to have to stop adding non-conference opponents to their schedule. That was not the case on Sunday, however.

According to Pittsburgh Sports Now, the Dukes will lost the Loyola(Maryland) Greyhounds as part of their non-conference schedule for 2020-2021. The date of the game is still to be determined.

In 2019-2020, the Greyhounds went 15-17 with a 7-11 record in Patriot League play. As the #9 seed, they were defeated by the #8 seed Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 78-75, in the first round of the conference tournament.

Loyola University Maryland is located in Baltimore, Maryland. The university is located approximately 250 miles from Duquesne University.

Loyola(Maryland) last made the NCAA Tournament in 2012 as a representative of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. As a #15 seed, they were defeated by the #2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes at Consol Energy Center (now PPG Paints Arena) in Pittsburgh.

This will be third all-time meeting between the schools. Duquesne has won the first two contests, defeating the Greyhounds during the 2003-2004 and 2016-2017 seasons.
