(06.25.2020) Duquesne center James Ellis leaves program via transfer

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

A local product is leaving Keith Dambrot's program after just one year of very limited playing time.

Verbal Commits (via Twitter) reported that James Ellis is leaving Duquesne and will transfer to Tallahassee Community College, a junior college in Tallahassee, Florida.

In one season with the program, Ellis saw very few minutes on the court. The Westinghouse High School alumnus played in just five of the Dukes' 30 games, with a total of 11 minutes on the floor.

Ellis scored four points on field goal. One of those came in a November win over Lipscomb, while the other came in a December victory over Radford. Ellis also got playing time in non-conference victories over Loyola Marymount and Columbia.

Ellis saw the floor just once in Atlantic 10 Conference play when he played one minute in a victory over Saint Joseph's.

Having just played one season, Ellis will have a chance to recreate and polish his game at Tallahassee Community College before potentially returning to NCAA Division I competition.
