(07.15.2020) Robert Morris to play at Hawaii in 2020 season

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

With unique circumstances comes unique opportunities. For Robert Morris football, that means a trip across the globe.

Per FBSchedules, the Colonials will travel to play the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on Saturday, September 26.

The game fills what would have been the Colonials' bye week. Hawaii added Robert Morris to the schedule following the cancellation of all four of their non-conference opponents.

For Hawaii, road matchups with Arizona and Oregon, in addition to home meetings with UCLA and Fordham, were cancelled following the Pac-12 Conference's decision to play a conference-only season, while the Patriot League cancelled all fall sports.

Robert Morris will join the Big South Conference for the 2021 season, meaning they are tentatively set to play this upcoming campaign as an FCS Independent.

With a Northeast Conference-based schedule drawn up before the Colonials' departure, Robert Morris is still set to play games against the conference. However, the Bryant Bulldogs recently removed their November 7 meeting with Robert Morris from the schedule.

Hawaii hosted Robert Morris' rival, the Duquesne Dukes, during the 2018 season. The Rainbow Warriors won by a 42-21 score.

Robert Morris most recently played an FBS-level school to start the 2019 season, losing to the Buffalo Bulls by a 38-10 tally. The Colonials would finish the season with a 7-5 record, going 6-1 in Northeast Conference play, with the only loss coming to conference champion Central Connecticut State.

Robert Morris will play another FBS opponent on September 12, when they travel to northwestern Ohio for a date with the Bowling Green Falcons.
