After a week which saw the Pirates have three games postponed due to the coronavirus, Pittsburgh will be sidelined by the virus once again.
The team announced on Saturday that the final two games of the series with the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park had been postponed. This follows a report by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports late on Friday night, in which Rosenthal reported that a member of the Reds had tested positive for the coronavirus.
While a makeup date remains unknown, it is possible that the games could be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday, as the teams share a mutual off day.
Coming into Thursday, the Pirates had three straight days of postponed games with the St. Louis Cardinals amid the Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak. The Pirates defeated the Reds by a 9-6 mark on Thursday, and the Reds were victorious by an 8-1 score the following evening.
The three Cardinals games that were postponed will be made up as doubleheaders on August 27 (two makeup games) at Busch Stadium and September 18 (one makeup game) at PNC Park.
