A season that was set to see the Pittsburgh Pirates open up at Tropicana Field vs the Tampa Bay Rays on March 26 will now see the Pirates start a shortened campaign at Busch Stadium vs the St. Louis Cardinals on July 24.
That, among other match-ups, became finalized on Monday when Major League Baseball released the entire schedule for the 2020 season. Each team will play 60 games, consisting of 40 divisional games and 20 games vs the corresponding division. As a member of the National League Central, the Pirates correspond with the American League Central.
As previously mentioned, Pittsburgh will start their season in St. Louis. They open their home schedule (without fans, of course) on July 27 vs the Milwaukee Brewers. The Pirates will host the Chicago White Sox for Roberto Clemente Day on September 9, while traveling two hours to finish up the season at Progressive Field vs the Cleveland Indians.
