(07.04.2020) MLB to release 2020 schedule on Monday

Updated: Sep 23, 2021

Note: This article was written prior to the schedule release, with which it was presumed each team would play ten games versus each divisional opponent and four games versus each corresponding divisional opponent. In some instances, that is not the case.

With less than three weeks until the shortened Major League Baseball season begins, a schedule is on the way.

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the full 2020 schedule will be released on Monday. The season is set to resume on July 23.

On July 23, the New York Yankees will travel to our nation's capital for a date with the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals.

That game, presumably in prime-time, will be followed by a West Coast battle between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

The rest of the league will open the season on the following day, July 24.

The 2020 schedule will see each team play their four divisional opponents ten times each (40 games) and each team from the opposite league's corresponding division two times each (20 games) for a total of 60 games per team.

More details to come as the schedule is formally released.
