The first three pieces of the Pirates' 60-game schedule for the 2020 season became public on Sunday.
According to Dejan Kovacevic of DK Pittsburgh Sports, the Pirates will begin the season at Busch Stadium, where they will be hosted by the St. Louis Cardinals from July 24-July 26.
It is the fourth consecutive season in which the Pirates will begin on the road. They were victorious in Detroit over the Tigers in 2018, while falling to the Boston Red Sox in 2017 and the Cincinnati Reds in 2019.
While the rest of the schedule will be announced on Monday, this series provides the Pirates with an opportunity to gain divisional momentum right off the bat.
Of 19 head-to-head meetings during the 2019 season, St. Louis won on 14 occasions, including a four-game sweep in late July in Pittsburgh and a three-game sweep in Early August in St. Louis. At Busch Stadium, the Cardinals were victorious in six of ten meetings.
